Margo Price announces new album with lead single inspired by Sinéad O’Connor
"I hope this album inspires people to be...unabashedly themselves, in a culture that tries as hard as it can to beat us into all being the same," said the singer
Country artist Margo Price has announced her new album Hard Headed Woman, set for release on August 29 via Loma Vista Recordings.
The lead single from the record 'Don’t Let The Bastards Get You Down' was released today. It takes its name from the words whispered by Kris Kristofferson to Sinéad O’Connor after she was booed while on stage for a Bob Dylan anniversary concert at Madison Square Garden in 1992.
Produced by Matt Ross-Spang and recorded in Nashville, the album marks Price’s first full-length project made in her adopted home city. Featuring collaborations with Tyler Childers and Jesse Welles, Hard Headed Woman is the singer-songwriter's fifth studio album.
"I always hope to do like Johnny Cash did, which is speak up for the common man and woman," said Price on her upcoming record.
"But there have been so many threats and anger and vitriol over the years, when I am only coming from a place of love. So I made the decision to rebuild everything from the ground up."
Price added that she hopes the album "inspires people to be fearless and take chances and just be unabashedly themselves, in a culture that tries as hard as it can to beat us into all being the same."
The Grammy-nominated singer is due to embark on a tour which will include a show at London’s Scala on June 18.
