Lou Reed on Yeezus
The Velvet Underground icon given his review of Kanye West's latest offering.
The latest Hot Press Burning Question poll asked whether Kanye West's much-hyped and extremely dark new record Yeezus lives up to expectations, as well as whether it could be considered lyrically misogynistic.
You've had your say and you can see the results in the new issue of Hot Press, tomorrow (July 4).
Another person who has waded in with an opinion is legendary rocker Lou Reed. Reviewing Yeezus for thetalkhouse.com, he summarises: "if you like sound, listen to what he's giving you. Majestic and inspiring."
Reed also defends the more controversial aspects of the hip hop star's new creation:
"But it's just ridiculous that people are getting upset about "Put my fist in her like a civil rights sign"? C'mon, he's just having fun. That's no more serious than if he said he's going to drop a bomb on the Vatican. How can you take that seriously?"

There's no denying Mr. West's sonic brilliance on tracks such as this...
