Lorde, Clairo, Wolf Alice and more join No Music For Genocide streaming boycott
Artists previously listed by No Music For Genocide include KNEECAP, Fontaines D.C., Massive Attack, Björk, Paramore, Faye Webster, The Mary Wallopers and more.
Over 600 artists and labels have now pledged to remove their music from streaming services in Israel as part of the No Music For Genocide movement, with new additions including Lorde, Clairo, Wolf Alice and more.
Launched last month, No Music For Genocide describes itself as a "cultural boycott" in response to Israel's treatment of Palestinians, widespread censorship of those who speak out for Gaza and the music industry's ties to the Israeli military.
They encourage all interested artists and labels to join them in geo-blocking and removing their music from streaming services in Israel. The full list of over 600 artists and labels is on their website.
Other names added within the past month include record label FAMM (which represents Irish band Bricknasty) as well as artists Lucy Dacus, AURORA, Of Monsters and Men, MARINA, Orbital, Sir Chloe, Tove Styrke, Idles, of Montreal, Mallrat, The Blessed Madonna and Hot Chip.
The estate of deceased Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto was also added to the list.
Sakamoto's management and estate released a statement on his X account.
"The Estate of Ryuichi Sakamoto supports the 'No Music For Genocide' initiative," Sakamoto's estate said.
"To the extent possible, the Estate has removed or issued formal requests to labels to remove his music from all DSP (streaming and download) services in Israel. For much of his catalog, this has already taken effect."

London-based radio platform NTS also joined No Music For Genocide, writing on X the movement is "one step toward honouring Palestinian demands to isolate and delegitimise Israel’s government as it kills without consequence on the world stage."

Last week, music industry labour union United Musicians and Allied Workers (UMAW) posted a call for its members to join No Music For Genocide.
"Musicians: We urge you to geo-block your music in Israel and support the No Music For Genocide boycott...as Israel's systems of apartheid, occupation and oppression continue amidst ceasefire violations," UMAW said in an Instagram post.

The announcement came after the signing of a peace deal between Israel and Hamas earlier this month.
Under the agreement, all 20 living Israeli prisoners have been returned to Israel by Hamas, while around 1,950 Palestinian prisoners were released from Israeli prisons.
Despite the ceasefire imposed by the deal, Israel has killed nearly 100 Palestinians in Gaza and wounded 230 since the agreement came into effect on October 10.
According to No Music for Genocide, Clairo, Aurora, Lucy Dacus and FAMM all joined after the agreement was signed.
