Looking For Murphy
Bruised troubadour makes late-night gem
The first thing that you notice when you listen to Looking For Murphy is Kevin Barry’s voice. Bruised, battered but utterly brilliant, his vocals are drenched in emotion and raw as an open wound. It takes quite a bit of balls for an artist to musically lay everything on the line, but it’s a gamble that has paid off as each listen to the record reaps new rewards. Looking For Murphy is a pretty dark listen and tailor-made for late nights alone, but sometimes you have to appreciate the darkness before you can love the light.
Key Track: ‘Laughed And Cried’
