Live Review: Young Fathers @ Forbidden Fruit
Edinburgh trio Young Fathers are championing an undeniably unique brand of atmospheric, melodic and beat laden hip-hop at Forbidden Fruit today.
The music is extraordinary from the Mercury Prize winners, as is the performance put on by the group. They perform as if they are three soloists who all ended up on stage together by coincidence. That detached feel might not work well for most groups, but Young Fathers aren't most groups. It's that introspective and chilled-out streak that makes them such a thrill to watch.
The performance is like no other. Young Fathers are without doubt one of the most exciting acts of the day, and are riveting from beginning to end.
Innovative and extraordinary, Young Fathers' Forbidden Fruit performance shows a group that are confident and at ease on stage and in their craft.
