Live Report - Tramline Mondays feat Orchid Collective, Vulpynes and Jesse John Heffernan
The inaugural Tramline Mondays hit all the right notes and saw some stellar performances by emerging and established acts such as Jesse John Heffernan, Vulpynes and Orchid Collective. Despite the bitter January weather outside, punters basked in the cosy glow of the newly refurbished Tramline Bar on D’Olier street and settled in with a pizza and a pint for a night of live musical entertainment.
Performing an intimate acoustic set, singer-songwriter Jesse John Heffernan warmed the crowd with his soulful dulcet tones and giddy banter. In a short space of time, Heffernan has managed to climb the ranks of the gigging scene to securing a slot on the RTE Late Late Show with his single, ‘Don’t Leave Me Like That’.
Next up was 2-piece female riot grrrl punk duo, Vulpynes who brought their unique blend of style and attitude. Maeve Molly (Vocals and guitar) and Kaz (Drums) almost took the roof off on songs like ‘Silica’, ‘OCD’ and the wonderfully catchy ‘ Terry Said’. We're expecting big things from these gals in 2018.
Our headliners, Orchid Collective enjoyed serious airplay on Irish radio last year, and their single L.A.Z.Y was met with widespread critical acclaim. The lads, David O‘Shea (lead vocals, guitar), Shea Tohill (lead guitar, vocals), Hugh O’Neill (bass, vocals) and Darra Doyle (drums, vocals) blew everyone away with their 3 part harmonies and incredible musical ability.
Don't miss next week's very special Tramline Mondays which will be a tribute to the late great Cranberries singer Dolores O'Riordan featuring acts HVMMINGBYRD, Outsider, Junior Brother and very special guests, Ham Sandwich.
