Lil Skag, Sugaboo, Outstraight Records and more announced for Electric Picnic's new GlowDepot

Electric Picnic has announced the launch of GlowDepot, an urban-themed forest stage.

By day, GlowDepot will see acts such as Sugaboo, Lil Skag, Outstraight Records, Fortune Igiebor, Jeorge II and more.

By night, DJs and other performers will take the stage, including NewEra, Sloucho, JenTen, Jessica Maciel and more.

King Kong Company will launch GlowDepot on Thursday night with a special DJ set.

The “city in the woods” takes its inspiration from a retro petrol station canopy, created from upcycled plastics collected from music festivals across Ireland, according to a press release.

GlowDepot began as a shopping trolley, decorated with glowing LEDs that would show various light sequences. It would roll into the main arena after dark and offload its stash of glowsticks to festivalgoers. Now, 15 years later, it is getting its own designated area.

“Expect a space rooted in urban, underground and neo-soul music, with an electrifying celebration of Irish club culture after dark,” reads a statement.

GlowDepot’s basketball-themed side stage, Courtside, will also see sets from the likes of Aneta Moran Sax, SX2, DJ Chartini and more.

On Tuesday, Electric Picnic’s Fishtown announced their lineup, with artists such as MayKay, Shobsy, Child of Prague and more making appearances.

Croí, a dedicated wellness, arts and music area at the festival, also shared their programme earlier this week, including artists such as Donal Lunny, John Francis Flynn and Denise Chaila.

With just over two weeks left until the festival begins at Stradbally, Hot Press has released their special Electric Picnic issue today, August 12.
