Lighthouse Family announce Olympia Theatre show and new album
English band Lighthouse Family will play Dublin’s Olympia Theatre on 16 February 2020. The duo is slated to release Blue Sky In Your Head, their first new album in eighteen years, on 10 May of this year.
Lighthouse Family was formed in 1993 after members Tunde Baiyewu (vocals) and Paul Tucker (keyboard) met whilst in college in Newcastle upon Tyne. The pair dropped their debut album, Ocean Drive, in 1995 to commercial success – the record sold over 1.6 million copies in the UK alone, earning it a six-times platinum certification, and made a name for the band across Europe.
‘Lifted,’ the band’s first single, was played on BBC Radio One and hit No. 4 on the UK charts, and their songs ‘Ocean Drive,’ ‘Loving Every Minute’ and ‘Goodbye Heartbreak’ likewise found the band climbing to the top. A subsequent single from their second six-time platinum album Postcards from Heaven, ‘High,’ was No. 1 in Australia and broke the top ten in the UK and countries across Europe.
A heavy promotional schedule combined wit the success of their 2001 album Whatever Gets You Through The Day prompted the band to split up in early 2003. Since then, both men have pursued individual projects. The duo will reunite with their brand-new album Blue Sky In Your Head.
Tickets for Lighthouse Family’s Olympia Theatre show will be on sale from €40.90 including booking fees on Friday 3 May at 10 am.
