Lewis Capaldi confirms third album is in the works
“After this summer,” he said during his set at TRNSMT 2026 this weekend, “I’m gonna go away for a bit and make an album.”
Closing TRNSMT Festival 2026 this weekend, Lewis Capaldi announced that he would be taking some time away after the summer to write a third album.
Speaking on stage at the Glasgow festival on Sunday, the musician opened up about his mental health taking “a beating” following the release of his 2023 album Broken By Desire to Be Heavenly Sent.
Looking back at his last set at TRNSMT festival in 2022, Capaldi explained that it was followed by a “complete and utter mental fucking breakdown.”

In 2023, he took a break from performing live following a set at Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage, which had to be cut short due to his struggles with tics caused by Tourette’s, before making his return to that same stage last year.
In November, he made his official comeback with the release of his single ‘Survive’.
“Was not a good couple of years I had,” Capaldi reflected on his hiatus on Sunday, “but I’m back and I’m feeling better, I feel good. I’m firing on all cylinders, it’s nice to be here. My mental health took a beating so it’s fucking nice to be here and back with you all.”
“After this summer,” he continued later, “I’m gonna go away for a bit and make an album.”
Capaldi is set to play a series of dates in Ireland over the summer, including stops in Marlay Park, Dublin on June 23 and 24, Thomond Park, Limerick on June 26, all supported by CMAT, and Belfast Vital, Boucher Road on August 20.
