Letters From The Underground
The Levellers are the undisputed kings of the crusty movement and Letters From The Underground, continues on in the same Celtic-rock traditions as always.
It’s safe to say that for quite a few Hot Press readers the word “crusty” will be used to refer to a type of bread. But for those who possess memories of elephant-sized proportions, they’ll probably recall the heady days of 1992 instead, when the word described a lifestyle choice that applied to those with a love for cider, scruffy hair and dogs on pieces of string. For the uninitiated, the Levellers are the undisputed kings of the crusty movement and Letters From The Underground, (their first record in three years) continues on in the same Celtic-rock traditions as always. We get songs about London’s 7/7 bombings, the Virginia Tech shootings and more, but the music suggests that the band are starting to get smothered by the sands of time and that perhaps they should hang up their fiddles and call it a day. But maybe it’s just me...
