Let Them Eat Fishcake
While Thomson’s wispy vocals dominate, the other three women also take turns on the lead and team up for lovely choral arrangements reminiscent of Gaelic mouth music.
Fiddler Eilidh Shaw is already known as a member of the all-female Scottish group The Poozies; now she’s teamed up with fellow fiddler Sarah McFayden, Dundalk-born flute player Nuala Kennedy, guitarist Ross Martin, and Inge Thomson, from Fair Isle, who contributes several interesting original numbers to the album and plays box, flute and percussion. While Thomson’s wispy vocals dominate, the other three women also take turns on the lead and team up for lovely choral arrangements reminiscent of Gaelic mouth music.
