Let The Poison Out
And the Beets go on for prolific lo-fi rockers.
Let The Poisin Out is the latest salvo from current reigning champions of the post-nerd rock scene, The Beets. It’s a record of lo-fi fuzzy soundscapes that sees the American act embrace technology (well, kinda) in a bid to create something that doesn’t sound like it was created inside a giant biscuit tin. Benefitting hugely from pushing Juan Wauters’ vocals up higher in the mix, the LP is a quirky concoction of ‘60s harmonies (‘Wipe It Off’) and ramshackle garage rock-like riffage (‘As The World’) that confirms the Queens residents as one of slacker-dom’s more interesting acts. If you’re a fan of the Modly Peaches and Jeffrey Lewis then check it out.
