Lessons In Love
Dismal offering from would-be R&B Lothario, this 14-song supposed sexual odyssey is more like a soundtrack to a day in the life of Mr Bean than Hugh Hefner.
R’n’B crooner Lloyd (surnames are just so un-sexy, aren’t they?) isn’t your typical John Legend type balladeer. For a start, our Lloyd is in fact much randier than his contemporaries and most of his music is as filthy as a rummage through Pamela Anderson’s video collection. Tracks like the unintentionally hilarious ‘Sex Education’ and the gloriously cheesy ‘Party All Over Your Body’ are actually quite camp despite our hero’s assertions that he knows “all about the honeys.” Truthfully, this 14-song supposed sexual odyssey is more like a soundtrack to a day in the life of Mr Bean than Hugh Hefner. In many ways the 22-year-old New Orleans native has set his eyes on stealing fellow sultan of sleaze R. Kelly’s crown (or should that be doo-rag?), but for all of Kelly’s faults, he can still write a sterling pop song – and that’s one lesson that Lloyd needs to learn asap.
