Le Bataclan to Reopen with Pete Doherty Gig

The owners of Le Bataclan venue in Paris have announced that it will reopen later this year, with The Libertines frontman Pete Doherty set to play one of the first shows in the relaunched venue.

Doherty will play a gig at the Parisian venue on November 16, what will mark just over a year since terrorists targeted an Eagles Of Death Metal show at the theatre. 89 people were killed in one of a series of attacks to take place in the city on November 13, 2015.

"The work of renovation of Le Bataclan has started," a statement reads. "It consists of rehabilitation of all the infrastructure and facilities... We're going to try to preserve its warmth and friendliness. We want to maintain its spirit".

While adding that "the exact date of reopening is not set", Doherty's gig will be followed by a handful of others concerts as part of a full gig programme. Nada Surf will perform on December 2. More are due to be announced shortly.
