"First the Peruvian Embassy began sharing our video, and then Peruvian national news picked it up and broadcast it on repeat over the weekend!"
Irish singer-songwriter Kevin Herm Connolly has reimagined the creative genius of Peruvian composer Ángel Aníbal Rosado and musician Hijos del Sol by performing his rendition of hit song 'Cariñito'.
Connolly's rendition of the classic song has since been shared on Peruvian media, with the Irishman appearing to have a major impact on Latin America.
'Cariñito' is an iconic national theme for Peruvian people, but Kevin has given it his own stamp from across the Atlantic.
The song has been recorded numerous times over the last four decades by bands and performers in Colombia, Chile and Ecuador, but the melody has finally reached the Emerald Isle.
"It’s a song which is pretty much inescapable in Peru, and I fell in love with it during my time living there," Kevin says.

"I was delighted and quite emotional when I found out that our version was making waves in the country and that this report was featuring regularly on the national news station, America Noticias," he continued.
"For those of you who don't speak Spanish, they're showing our video to the widow of the writer of the song, the Peruvian legend Ángel Aníbal Rosado, who seems happy enough!"
Eugenia Acosta, widower of the composer, remembers her husband saying of the song, "I will die and that darling will burst."
Kevin has also carried out another project over this lockdown period, posting performance videos filmed from various implements and in various rooms around his home.
Dubbing it 'From the Washing Machine', his creative visuals have used a French press, a wheelie bin and a cheese grater.
