We put a proverbial gun to the heads of our writers and contributors, and K-Dot's To Pimp A Butterfly beat the competition to top our annual poll
One of the most astonishing, arresting and captivating albums in living memory, the title of Album Of The Year has been claimed by Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp A Butterfly.
The politically charged, sonically inspired record beat out a host of big name - and elite quality - challengers, including another from a Compton native, Dr Dre. His long-awaited comeback LP, named after his neighbourhood, charted at No. 7.
Above him, though, were a host of Irish acts, with Glen Hansard and Villagers claiming top 5 berths. Didn't He Ramble and Darling Arithmetic are two of the finest albums to emerge from this island in many years, so it's only right they take a place near the summit.
