Kehlani releases pro-Palestinian music video for 'Next 2 U'
The music video featured the brandishing of palestinian flags and keffiyeh-inspired clothing.
Multi-platinum singer Kehlani has released her new single ‘Next 2 U’ in support of Palestine amid the ongoing struggle in Gaza.
The music video features Kehlani and their background dancers performing with Palestinian flags while wearing suits that incorporate keffiyehs.
The track opens with a quote from award-winning poet and author Hala Alyan: “Keep your moon/We have our own/Keep your army/We have our name/Keep your flag/We have fruit and in/All the right colours.”
The video includes the words of a popular pro-Palestinian chant: “long live the antifada,” which commonly translates to “long live the uprising.”

In an Instagram post, the singer shared that they were “nervous” and “terrified” as an artist trying to take a political stance, adding that the feeling is “paired with the crippling wonder of what music is appropriate to drop during the most historical tragedies of our generation.
“I remembered my favourite revolutionary poets, singers, filmmakers,” they continued. “I remembered how much impact we have.”
Kehlani’s fourth studio album, Crash, is set for release on June 21.
