Julie Feeney ready to roll with 'pages'
The maverick Galway singer goes orchestral on her new record.
Julie Feeney has confirmed the late spring release of her second album, the 12-track ‘pages’.
Talking to Hot Press, she reveals that, “I’m the composer, producer, conductor and singer. I had a particular sound in my head, which involved using an orchestra with songs in a way I hadn't heard before. All of the music I notated myself and it was rehearsed and recorded by an orchestra over six hours in one day. I conducted the orchestra. All the singing and layering of voices I did later in my own studio.
“I spent a good number of weeks at the artists’ retreat in Annaghmakerrig – the Tyrone Gutherie Centre – working on the words with only pen and paper, and I had to use a kind of elaborate filtering system because I had such a huge amount of poetry and text material since the last album.
