Jon Stewart signs deal with HBO
The former Daily Show will create 'short-form digital content' for the network
With our tears having finally dried after the end of The Daily Show, Jon Stewart has confirmed a new deal with HBO.
The four year arrangement will see the comic creating 'short form digital content' for the premium network - though it remains unclear when and how said material will air.
Stewart finished close to two decades behind the Daily Show desk in August, citing the strain that nightly programming had taken over the years. Looking forward to his new venture, he quipped, "Appearing on television 22 minutes a night clearly broke me. I’m pretty sure I can produce a few minutes of content every now and again.”
His time since then has been spent doing everything from opening an animal sanctuary to being body-slammed by John Cena on WWE programming; now, he'll be joining old mucker John Oliver at the network that continues to lead the way for big-name acquisitions Stateside.
