Johnny Marr to release live album Look Out Live!
Since launching his solo career in 2013, the former songwriter and guitarist of the Smiths has released five UK Top Ten albums
Johnny Marr has announced Look Out Live!, a 22-track live album due for release on September 19 via BMG.
Recorded at Marr’s 2024 sold-out headline show at London’s Hammersmith Apollo, the release includes tracks ‘Hi Hello’, ‘Easy Money’ and ‘Somewhere’, alongside ‘This Charming Man’, ‘How Soon Is Now?’ and ‘Bigmouth Strikes Again’.
It will also feature a cover of Iggy Pop’s ‘The Passenger’, as well as two duets with special guest Neil Tennant from the Pet Shop Boys on a rendition of Bowie's ‘Rebel Rebel’, and a mass communal singalong for Electronic’s ‘Getting Away With It’.
The upcoming album from the Smiths guitarist “captures the full magic and nuance of a Johnny Marr live show. High energy, atmospheric intensity, electro-soul anthems and all-in singalong moments each led by Johnny’s vocal carrying the same sharp clarity and emotional weight as his signature guitar playing and songwriting,” according to a statement.
Earlier this year, the British singer-songwriter became the second artist to be awarded ‘Record Store Day Legend’, following Elton John in 2017.
In recent years, Marr recorded the single ‘Build It Up’ alongside Franz Ferdinand, followed by a surprise reunion at the Forever Now Festival with bandmate Matt Johnson from The The, with whom he recorded and toured from 1988 to 1994.
Marr is also set to tour across Europe and North America in September and October this year.
Look Out Live! will be available on limited edition orange double vinyl, on black double vinyl, limited edition 2CD and digitally. Both Double Vinyl formats include 18 songs, with tracks 19 - 22 available on the 2CD and digital editions of the album.
Two tracks, ‘Getting Away With It’ and ‘Rebel Rebel’ featuring Neil Tennant, are available to stream now with the full album available for preorder here.
