Jape brings video project to the National Concert Hall
Richie Egan’s Jape will live score eight short films to accompany his new album Sentinel on March 4.
“I would like it to be an intriguing record,” says Egan. “I want people to not initially go, ‘This is the best record I’ve ever heard in my life’, but that it will intrigue them enough to go back and take another listen. I feel like if they do that, it will connect with them on a deeper and better level than something that’s really immediate,” Egan told us back in January.
Jape blends his meticulously crafted lyrics and upbeat electronic rhythms with eight short films. Directors involved include TJ O'Grady Peyton, Gar O'Rourke, Brendan Canty, Rosie Barrett, Ais Ais Brady and Jamie Delaney, as well as the Aer Lingus Discovery Award Nominees Allyn Quigley and Laragh McCann.
