Japanese Writing

This debut four-track EP from the Portlaoise-based songwriter offers a variety of styles. The opening track, ‘Feeling The Music’, is an upbeat affair, a celebration of melody and rhythm, with an added massed choir of voices adding levity to the proceedings. ‘4am’ is a much darker, deeper ballad that calls to mind Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen and Mick Flannery while, strange as it may seem, on the final number, ‘This Song’, he actually recalls his near namesake, Mr. David Bowie, (think ‘Port Of Amsterdam’). Worth hearing.
