Jack White - High Ball Stepper
While I realise I’m in the minority, I must admit I’ve never enjoyed the music of Jack White. His strangled cat voice and limp brand of sanitised rock ‘n’ roll has never floated this particular boat. New single ‘High Ball Stepper’ hasn’t changed my opinion much (though as it’s an instrumental I’m happy to have been spared from his caterwaul). A scuzzy, repetitive four minutes of fuzz, fans will probably enjoy the effort but it won’t convert the unbelievers. If you want to discover a true garage rock renaissance man check out the work of John Reis instead. You can thank me later.
