In our next Q+A, Una Healy (of The Saturdays) talks about being involved in Irish Women in Harmony.
As someone who rose to fame at such a young age, it's perhaps easy for Una Healy to empathise with Dolores O'Riordan. "I was a huge fan of Dolores and The Cranberries," she tells me. "Her lyrics and music were so powerful and inspiring to me growing up as a singer/songwriter, empowering me as a woman.
"I was so honoured to be asked to take part in this project alongside so many talented fellow female Irish artists of whom I really admire," she recalls, as she thanks RuthAnne for her superior organisation and for lending her skills as a producer on the single. "In the music industry, us women really need to support each other as it is still such a male-dominated industry."
In addition to the music industry, Healy was proud to be involved for the sake of Safe Ireland. "During lockdown, there was a huge rise in domestic abuse and we need to do everything we can to help protect those suffering as a result. We are encouraging anyone who is suffering to speak out and know that there is the help here to protect them from the hands of such abuse. It is simply not acceptable and it has to be stopped."
