Irish film Viva nominated for Oscar
It has been nominated for an award in the Foreign Language category
The recently made Irish film, Viva, has been nominated for an Oscar for 'Foreign Language'.
Written by Mark O'Halloran, directed by Paddy Breathnach and produced by Rob Walpole and Rebecca O'Flanagan, the film takes place in Cuba and is filmed in the Spanish language. It details a young man trying to find his niche amongst drag performers in Havana.
"This project was a real labour of love", says Walpole, "It seemed like a crazy proposition: a crew of Irish people going to Cuba to tell this story.” O’Flanagan concurs "we had full confidence in Viva from the beginning and it is so thrilling to have that belief acknowledged"
Viva stars actors Héctor Medina, Jorge Perugorría and Luis Alberto García/.
