Ill Manors
I’m still waiting for the backlash against Plan B’s return to his hip hop roots, but judging by the ecstatic reaction to ‘Ill Manors’, the first single from his third album of the same name, music fans are happy to take shapeshifter extraordinaire Ben Drew any way he comes. The video for ‘Ill Manors’ couldn’t be further away from the glossy, choreographed fare of the Strickland Banks saga; a politically-charged urban mini-drama based around last year’s London riots, featuring a couple of killer explosions and several stock camera phone clips, including footage of former deputy PM John Prescott’s 2001 scuffle with a protester in Wales. Heavy stuff, but if anyone call pull it off, it’s the man who spent the last six months playing George Carter in the film version of The Sweeney.
