The American modelling competition series is not being renewed for a 23rd season
Since 2003, the American television network, The CW, has brought us a program that has enthralled fashion and lifestyle lovers across the globe.
America's Next Top Model is hosted by the iconic Tyra Banks, and in the past has featured judges that include Janice Dickinson, Twiggy, Nigel Barker and Kelly Cutrone.
The series generally starts off with between 10 to 16 girls, who are competing for a contract with Elite Model Management. The women are required to audition for the competition. Once the contestants are chosen, they are given a makeover in the first episode, and at the end of each episode, the competitors are judged and eliminated based on their performance. Throughout the series' contest, models are sent to an international destination to further prove themselves in the modelling field.
The show has become a global phenomenon, however despite this, The CW announced yesterday that the fashion modelling series will not be renewed.
Mark Pedowitz, President of The CW commented, "America's Next Top Model was a successful franchise for two networks, first at UPN and then The CW, and it became not just a ratings hit, but a global phenomenon. I want to thank Tyra and Ken for all their years of success in establishing a show that was not just popular in the US, but all across the world."
