I Am The Greatest
When the quirky Dublin four-piece A House, led by Dave Couse, parted company with Warner imprint, Blanco Y Negro following the commercial failure of their second album I Want Too Much it offered them a new start. They re-grouped, linking up with Keith Cullen’s London/Irish label Setanta and the result was this superb collection, released in 1991. Produced by Orange Juice mainman Edwyn Collins, it contained the soon-to-be classic ‘Endless Art’ and ‘Take It Easy on Me’. The band bowed out gracefully in 1997 with a memorable show in Dublin’s Olympia but left a legacy of five albums. I Am The Greatest is the high-water mark.
No 34 in 2009, as voted for by over 200 Irish musicians. Down from No 29 in 2004.
