Hotter than the sun
It just gets better: The Hives and The Dandy Warhols are just a few of the latest confirmations for Witnness... and the next near-definite addition will be no less than Primal Scream. Read on for Bobby Gillespie's album preview ("It's probably the best thing we've done since 'Higher Than The Sun'")
Newsflash! The Hives and Dandy Warhols have both confirmed on their websites that they're playing the Witnness festival on Sunday, July 14th.
Also expected to be added to the bill are Primal Scream who are currently assembling a new album which Bobby Gillespie describes as "Neu meets the Beach Boys."
"We're doing it in our studio, The Bunker, in Chalk Farm, " he reveals. "It's going amazing, it's mostly mixed. There's about three more songs to go. We've just done a track with Andrew Weatherall. It's probably the best thing we've done since 'Higher Than The Sun'. Then there's some extreme rock 'n' roll with Kevin Shields. Half of the tracks are sort of psychedelic and the rest are quite light rock 'n' roll."
Tracks include 'Deep Hit Of The Morning Sun', 'Skull Exploding' and the lead single, 'Miss Lucifer', which is due in June and reckoned by Alan McGee to be "a cross between fuckin' heavy metal, Stockhausen and Philip Glass, man."
