Hot Press Lockdown Sessions present a 'Spotlight On Westport', brought to you by Grace O'Malley Whiskey

In the face of gig cancellations and restrictions, the Hot Press Lockdown Sessions, brought to you by the sea-faring legends from Grace O'Malley Whiskey, have been taking the country by storm. The Sessions bring viewers into musicians' homes for intimate – but socially-distanced – performances, live from the Hot Press Instagram every night. We're now delighted to be putting a 'Spotlight on Westport', with the announce of exciting new additions.

With a rich west of Ireland heritage at the very essence of Grace O’Malley Whiskey, this week will see the Hot Press Lockdown Sessions put a 'Spotlight on Westport’ – with talented musicians from the town kicking off proceedings over the coming days. On Tuesday (March 31), Rebecca McRedmond will perform live from Westport at 7pm, before Ruthanne's live from London show at 7:30pm. The following day (April 1), it's Matt Rowley's turn – playing live from Westport at 7pm before handing over to Tiz McNamara in Toronto at 7:30pm.

Since launching her solo career last year, Westport singer-songwriter Rebecca McRedmond has built up an impressive reputation – writing deeply heartfelt songs about love and loss, and performing with the likes of Mark Geary, Kevin May, Emma Langford and John Blek.

"Music has been a huge part of my life growing up, but it wasn't until my late 20s I started to write," she reveals. "I guess it was a door I had never opened and now that I have I feel so much more complete.

Rebecca recently joined Mundy on his Irish and UK tour, and plans to release her highly anticipated debut album this year.

Her fellow Westport native Matt Rowley has also received plenty of plaudits in recent years. Along his path, Matt has shared stages with the legendary likes of Mundy, Declan O'Rourke and Damien Dempsey. As well as touring the US and Europe as a solo artist, he he has performed with the Clew Bay Pipe Band on their PipeVersity show.

2020 is gearing up to be another landmark year for both Westport musicians.
