Hot For 2021 Irish Acts: Jacob Koopman
In a world of shuttered music venues and snatched-away opportunities, Ireland’s music community continues to defy the odds – with young, emerging artists defiantly rising above seemingly insurmountable challenges, and flying the flag for their country. This bold energy, independent ethos and genre-defying talent is evident across our list of Hot For 2021 Irish Acts – which features artists from every corner of Ireland.
Jacob Koopman:
A Dublin-based singer-songwriter with Bali roots, the indie-pop musician initially built up a following through busking on Grafton Street. Koopman has since played Electric Picnic and Castlepalooza, and worked with Ryan O’Shaughnessy on his debut EP, Blindfold. 2020, meanwhile, saw him release the stunning single ‘Is That What You Wanted?’ He has the looks and the tunes.
Hear: His most recent single, ‘Fade Away’.
Watch: His December performance with Allie Sherlock on Grafton Street.
