Home Life: Andrew Cedermark
Former Titus Andronicus man tells us about his childhood...
Home Life is the second studio album from former Titus Andronicus guitarist Andrew Cedermark. It’s a record which deals with the subject of growing up and, more importantly, the realisation that you don’t have to.
An introspective and at times dark listen, the often stark combination of guitar, bass and drums sounds a little ramshackle at first (‘Canis Major’). But after repeated spins the LP takes shape and draws you into a world of alienation and regret. Opening with ‘On Me,’ a track which only halfway through do you realise is a distorted take on Bill Withers’ ‘Lean On Me’, Home Life might be a little maudlin for some listeners, but there are cracks of light (albeit brief) in among the bruised and bleak tunes. ‘Train Window Man’, which sounds a little like Dinosaur Jr covering Teenage Fanclub, is a definite highlight and fans of Geek The Girl-era Lisa Germano should check it out.
Key Track: 'Train Window Man'
