Heart
Grinding guitar riffs, thudding synths and freak-out drums are the playthings of Dublin duo Kid Karate, who wooed dozens of choon-hungry punters at Dublin's Hard Working Class Heroes festival last month. All four cuts on debut EP Heart are gritty, impatient and brutal (Track 4 ain't called 'Vicious' for nothin'). The skyscraping vocals aren't quite singalong (at the risk of bursting a blood vessel, I won't be attempting to replicate the straight-up howling on 'Black + Beige') but that’s not to underestimate KK's dancefloor appeal. Rage and resentment abound – Heart is an EP to pound your chest to.
