Have You Tried a Mitsubishi Macchiato?
We haven't either — that's because Ezra Koenig just dropped this hint about Vampire Weekend's new album sure to be an incredible indie hit
Ezra Koenig is known for being cryptic, often using his astute knowledge of pop culture and indie tinge to surprise and delight fans.
Though Vampire Weekend has not released an Album since Modern Vampires of the City in 2013, headman Ezra Koenig has been hard at work pumping out an eclectically witty radio show called 'Time Crisis' exclusively for Apple Music. Close followers know he has also been spending time in the recording studio.
Mitsubishi Macchiato is the mysterious moniker posted this past weekend by Koenig (@arze) via Instagram.
"Recording, trying to finish ASAP what else can I tell you without playing myself? hmm, it’s a lil more springtime than the last one. guitar’s not dead," he says.
It is no wonder this hint drop sounds quirky as past songs are titled, ‘Obvious Bicycle,’ ‘Oxford Comma,’ and similarly alliterative ‘Hannah Hunt.’
Original band member Rostam Batmanglij left Vampire Weekend in January 2016 to perform on his own. While this changeup will surely influence the sonic landscape of the band’s buoyant and novel tunes, Ezra Koenig and the gang are still highly likely to impress — stay tuned!
