Haunted By You

Gene: “Haunted By You” (Costermonger)

Poor old Gene have already been burdened with the wearisome tag of “The Next Big Thing”. They also happen to be fashionably on an independent label affiliated to a major, Chrysalis. Allusions to The Smiths are appropriate, if unfortunate. As sweet and nicely intentioned as Gene are, their raking over the coals of rejection never matches the salvationary and fiery, visionary depths of misery and suffering Morrissey managed to kindle and re-kindle.
