Groove Armada
All in all, then, the classic festival experience – fun while it lasts but unlikely to last much longer than tomorrow’s hangover.
Tonight, it would seem, is very much the party night of the Green Energy’s outdoor wing. They may only have a couple of medium performing albums behind them, but Groove Armada have stuffed the Castle to capacity.
As with others before them, GA have learnt that the essence of an invigorating live experience is not a couple of blokes noodling around behind a band of keyboards, and have brought along a whole singing and dancing extravaganza. It certainly works, allowing them to tread the whole rock band playing dance music/dance band playing rock music tightrope with great success.
They have everything they need (bouncy percussion, a genuine soul diva, brass section, funky MCs and flashy back projections) to set the Castle alight in a blaze of good vibes. In fact all they are missing is a few more tunes to rival the gorgeous ‘At The River’ and genuine party anthem ‘Superstyling’ (although strangely no ‘I See You Baby’).
All in all, then, the classic festival experience – fun while it lasts but unlikely to last much longer than tomorrow’s hangover.
