Grace Jones Replaces M.I.A. As Afropunk Festival Headliner
The stunning 68-year-old steps in to play the London show
Grace Jones has been confirmed as the replacement headliner for M.I.A. at the first annual Afropunk festival.
M.I.A. was dropped from the festival last week after organisers received backlash for her comments regarding the Black Lives Matter movement. "Is Beyoncé or Kendrick Lamar going to say Muslim Lives Matter? Or Syrian Lives Matter? Or this kid in Pakistan matters? That’s a more interesting question,” she stated in an April interview.
Joining Jones on the bill are acts such as Laura Mvula, Kwabs, The Noisettes, Loyle Carner, Goldlink, Joe Kay, The Whooligan, Hannah Faith, Eden Hagos, MNEK, Lady Leshurr, Skinny Girl Diet, Jorja Smith, Big Joanie, Nova Twins, The Connectors, and Mikel Ameen among others.
