Glen Hansard painting set to raise tens of thousands

A painting of Glen Hansard up for auction to raise funds for a not-for-profit organisation to strengthen ties between Ireland and the United States is set to raise tens of thousands.
The work by Colin Davidson - pictured below - is currently the subject of a bid of $20,000, with that sum expected to rise before the hammer drops on Thursday, when Davidson is honoured as part of the Oscar Wilde Awards.

The Bangor-based artist is in good company among the honourees this year, who include TV funnyman Stephen Colbert and Star Wars actress Carrie Fisher.
