Glen Hansard Opens Up About Mic Christopher on RTE's Born Optimistic
The 25th episode of the radio show sharing life lessons from iconic artists featured a riveting exchange with one of Ireland's greats. With emotional and uplifting conversation throughout Glen talks everything from the recording of Skylarkin' to the deeply profound influence Mic still has on his life.
With stories of Mic playing guitar the first night the two met as teenagers to him being by Glen's side when he met Marketa Irglova, there is plenty of reflection and regret that Mic never saw the massive success and critical acclaim in later years:
"In a way I feel kind of guilty that I've gone and achieved all this without him by my side"
This is a brilliantly honest and uplifting interview with some wise words on life and the importance of optimism to go with it.
Donal Scannell presents 'Born Optimistic' Mondays at 8pm on RTE Radio One Extra or you can listen on iTunes and Stitcher from 8am on Monday mornings.
