Glastonbury back on
Michael Eavis and the Mean Fiddler have reached an agreement, and Glastonbury is once again set to proceed. Your Gorillaz, Blur, Coldplay, Pulp, The Strokes, Starsailor, Basement Jaxx and Stereophonics needs will thus be looked after
After a week of "will they, won't they" intrigue, Glastonbury mainman Michael Eavis has entered into a partnership agreement with the Mean Fiddler Organisation.
Says a spokesman: "A meeting took place today between the Mean Fiddler, Michael Eavis and the Workers Beer Company. As a result, the parties are proud to announce that they've reached a fundamental understanding as to what is needed to safeguard the spirit of the Glastonbury Festival while taking the steps necessary to secure its future."
It's a very different story from last Monday when, concerned that the Fiddler were trying to wrestle artistic control from him, Eavis signaled that the deal was off.
"Michael was a bit freaked when the headline 'Glastonbury's Hippy Dream Is Sold To Rock Tycoon' appeared in one of the UK dailies," reveals an industry insider.
"He wanted to make it clear to the Fiddler that, despite the deal, he's still the guy in charge. That done, it's all systems go."
While the Glastonbury line-up won't officially be announced until the tickets are sold-out, it's an open secret that the June 28th to 30th bill will include Gorillaz, Blur, Coldplay, Pulp, The Strokes, Starsailor, Basement Jaxx and Stereophonics.
