Radical Face occupies a similar space to The Russian Futurists, but succeeds where they fail by not sounding so goddam saccharine. The work of 24-year-old Electric President member Ben Cooper, Ghost is an album with an appealing concept – the idea that houses have memories, that our stories live on within walls. His delicate, intricate electronic pop suits this theme perfectly – whether it sweeps (‘Let The River In’, ‘The Strangest Things’, the beautiful ‘Wrapped In Piano Strings’) or creeps (‘Asleep On A Train’, ‘Homesick’). Cooper’s occasionally weak voice is left exposed on a couple of tracks, but perhaps this just adds to this death-obsessed record’s wonderfully human feel. How odd.
