Gaze is Ghost release double A-side 'Wild Geese'/'Feather and Bone'
The recording moniker of Northern Irish musician Laura McGarrigle; Gaze is Ghost teams up with Keith Mannion on bass and Scotland's Casey Miller on drums for the new release.
Laura McGarrigle, Keith Mannion (Slow Place Like Home) and Casey Miller have joined forces in the form of baroque electronic trio Gaze is Ghost to release two carefully-woven gems.
Inspired by the “fragile beauty” of the Scottish coastline where McGarrigle currently live, ‘Wild Geese’ is equal parts gossamer and quietly defiant, McGarrigle’s cyclical patterns and recurring refrain of “I’ll try to do better” doubling as a mantra for future days.
The full band ‘Feather and Bone’, draws inspiration from the Inuit folk tale of the Skeleton Woman, as McGarrigle, Mannion and Miller unravel a tale that immediately demands another listen.
Classically trained composer Laura McGarrigle spent several years traveling between London, Paris, and Northern Ireland before finally finding a home for her piano in Scotland. The three musicians came together in 2018, with their new double A-side proving the results have worked wonders.
The singer-songwriter has been developing her sound since the release of ‘Revolvere’ back in 2014.
McCarrigle's debut EP Plume - a collection of beautiful, ethereal music - is led by piano but accompanied on record by a small band of collaborators to flesh out the sketches.
