Game Of Thrones a big winner at the Emmys
Fantasy blockbuster claims 12 gongs, including Best Drama
HBO were the biggest winners at last night's Emmy awards, as a pair of shows on the premium network grabbed the biggest awards.
Game Of Thrones claimed 12 awards on the night - including a massively popular Best Supporting Actor (drama) for Peter Dinklage, who plays Tyrion Lannister - but the big one was Best Drama. It beat out the highly-favoured Mad Men for that award, though there was some consolation as Jon Hamm picked up the Best Actor (drama) prize for his iconic portrayal of Don Draper.
The Best Comedy gong went to Veep, which also saw its stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Tony Hale pick up Best Actress (comedy) and Best Supporting Actor (comedy) honours.
Other notable winners on a night which has been praised as a triumphant evening for diversity included Viola Davis, grabbing drama lead actress decoration for her role in How to Get Away With Murder and Jeffrey Tambor for Transparent, in which he plays a father who transitions to a woman.
