FORBIDDEN FRUIT 2017: Bon Iver provide shelter with their PEOPLE Mixtape
It's a brave and spirited bunch out here braving the elements at Kilmainham right now.
Following an afternoon's worth of rain, the shivering poncho-clad masses flocked to the Outcider stage with the promise of being warmed by a fire mixtape - Bon Iver's PEOPLE Mixtape.
Beginning just after five o'clock, the set started with Justin Vernon and a compatriot at centre stage on loop stations, laying down beats that would sound familiar to fans of their latest record 22, a Million.
Slowly the band was fleshed out - first a drummer arrived, then a bassist and lastly a guitarist.
Vernon took on the role of conductor, traversing the stage to whisper directions to each band member - and later grabbing cans for them all, to big cheers.
The industrial rhythms laid down and built up made for a groovy 40 minutes that well and truly whet our appetite for their Main Stage headline slot later.
