Fontaines D.C. score third-biggest opening week for an album in 2026 on UK chart
Dopamine Chamber is currently topping charts in six countries.
Fontaines D.C.'s Dopamine Chamber has achieved the third-biggest opening week for an album this year on the UK charts. Released on October 16, it has also become the fastest-selling LP in the UK by an Irish artist in 15 years.
The album is only behind Harry Styles' Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally. and Olivia Rodrigo's you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love in opening week sales. Dopamine Chamber has reportedly sold over 70,000 chart units, including over 14,000 CDs, 37,500 vinyl albums, and 15,000 sales-equivalent streams.
The album, which is Fontaines D.C.'s fifth, has also scored a Number 1 spot in Ireland, as well as in Australia, Belgium's Flanders region, the Netherlands, and Scotland. In France, it stands at Number 3, and in Germany at Number 2.
“This groundswell of a broader, younger, mixed gender audience gravitating towards the band and their music, began before we even started releasing tracks from the Romance album”, said Ben Beardsworth, the music director for the band's label XL Recordings.
International promotion, such as listening parties, have also had a positive impact on the chart performance of this album, he said.
In Ireland and in the UK, this is Fontaines' second Number 1 album, following 2022's Skinty Fia, which also topped charts in Scotland.
Dopamine Chamber also includes their biggest ever single, 'Marianne', which has reached Number 2 in Ireland and Number 1 on the UK's Indie chart.
