We have compiled a list of five things you should definitely be aware of before you go and see the latest instalment in the sci-fi franchise.
There seems to have been a lot of talk about Star Wars all year and today the talk finally comes to a climax as it finally hits cinemas.
We're sure lots of you will be going to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens over the weekend so we have compiled a list of five things you really should know before going to watch it in the cinema. You don't have to be a Star Wars fanatic to go and see it but you should have an idea of the history of what is probably the most famous sci-fi franchise ever.
1). If the prequels upset you with their over the top special effects and bad characters don't worry, they pose no relevance to the latest episode. The Force Awakens is based on the original three films, which means some of your favourite characters will be returning.
2). Darth Vader died at the end of Return of the Jedi but not before having a moment of clarity. He tells Luke that he is his and Princess Leia's father, turns to the good side and dies. Darth Vader still appears to play an important roll in this episode as you can see his mask in one of the trailers that Disney released earlier in the year.
3). To fans Han Solo and Princess Leia's relationship is like the Ross and Rachael of the sci-fi world.

4). Luke Skywalker is just as relevant to The Force Awakens as he was to the three original films.
5). Kylo Ren is the new villain and he appears to have an emotional attachment to Darth Vader. This is more reason to brush up on the original three, as you could get lost at this point.
The general consensus is that Star Wars: The Force Awakens is very much the film that fans have been looking for since Return of the Jedi so if you have any interest in the films you should really enjoy what JJ Abrams has to offer.
