Fight the score
Trad chanteuse graduates to tuneful soft-rock
Some acts have music in their blood, and County Cork’s Nicole Maguire is most certainly one of them. Having paid her dues playing trad sets with her family, she now releases a collection of self-penned songs entitled Fight The Score. What we have on offer are 11 songs that are accessible, tuneful and thoughtful. Quite cannily, Nicole doesn’t tie herself to one genre and mixes it up with tracks like the rock-tastic ‘Token Of Life’. Fight The Score is the sound of an artist who is beginning to find her way. She may not hav definitively arrived – but we are enjoying the journey nonetheless.
Key Track: 'Token Of Life'
