Faithfully
Most of the songs are slow groove numbers, with a few dance-floor fillers thrown in
The third album from the recently remarried Faith Evans finds her moving even further from the shadow of her late husband Biggie Smalls.
Considering Faith used to pen songs for Ms. Blige, it’s hardly surprising that there are abundant similarities in style. Most of the songs are slow groove numbers, with a few dance-floor fillers thrown in. ‘Burnin’ Up’ is the de rigueur Neptunes-produced track and is as funky as things get, while P. Diddy contributes a rap on the single ‘You Gets No Love’.
The production is flawless, the songs are satisfyingly bass-heavy and Evans has a sweet voice that particularly suits the retro disco soul of ‘Back To Love’, as well as the numerous songs which find her returning to her gospel roots.
Faithfully is substantially better than Evan’s last effort Keep The Faith, bringing her one step closer to Divadom.
