Eyes Wide Open
This young singer and piano accordion player from Newcastle is a fine composer of new tunes, as demonstrated on the opening set featuring one jig in honour of Cunningham and another dedicated to Bartlett’s pet parrot.
This young singer and piano accordion player from Newcastle is a fine composer of new tunes, as demonstrated on the opening set featuring one jig in honour of Cunningham and another dedicated to Bartlett’s pet parrot. Other originals here include ‘The Roses’, written after joining Cunningham and Aly Bain onstage on her 16th birthday and being presented by them with 16 red roses, and the title track, inspired by the hatching of her baby quails. Songs include heartfelt (if somewhat technically naïve) renditions of ‘Crazy Man Michael’ and Owen Hand’s ‘My Donald’ among others.
