As far as house albums go, it’s damn near perfect.
Sweden’s YMC have been compared to the likes of Lemon Jelly et al in some quarters – but, apart from the subtle atmospherics, it’s quite hard to see why.
Why? ‘Cos this is house music, mate. And as far as house albums go, it’s damn near perfect. Although it doesn’t sound all that exceptional on first listen, it’s what’s best described as a “grower”. And, yep, none of the 12 tracks jump out at you (apart from the excellent ‘Niteflite Part 1 and 2’) – but this is a good thing – all are equally as good as the others. It’s a deep, subtle journey through house with added dashes of swirling atmospherics and ambience – underpinned by a dancefloor nous.
